flynas, the leading low-cost airline in the world and the best LCC in the Middle East, announced launching the “Literature Journey” initiative, aimed at reinforcing Saudi cultural content and supporting the production of Saudi litterateurs, through reproducing and publishing it on flynas’ social media accounts, as part of the company’s sustainability and social responsibility programs that adopt initiatives with a sustainable impact on society.
flynas has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Abdullah bin Idris Cultural Center to collaborate in the field of culture. Under the agreement, the center will nominatie literary texts for the initiative, and flynas will digitally reproduce and promote the content across its digital platforms.
Waleed Ahmad, Director General of Corporate Communications and official spokesperson for flynas, explained: “The initiative will focus on reproducing and publishing selected works of Saudi literature, particularly those related to travel and wanderlust, whether in poetry, prose, stories, or articles, to enhance awareness and promote the creativity of Saudi intellectuals across digital platforms. The initiative will reproduce the creative works of Saudi intellectuals to align with the public’s tastes on modern digital platforms, in partnership with a specialized and reliable cultural center named after one of the pioneers of culture and literature in Saudi Arabia, the Abdullah bin Idris Cultural Center.”
This initiative is part of flynas’ ongoing commitment to supporting culture and the arts through various initiatives, most notably those supporting Saudi cinema and celebrating Arabic Language Day, Arabic calligraphy, and the Year of Saudi Coffee, within flynas’ contribution to achieving the goals of Saudi Vision 2030, which focuses on strengthening the Kingdom’s national identity and rich heritage.
For his part, Dr. Ziad Aldrees, Secretary-General of the Abdullah bin Idris Cultural Center, expressed the center’s immense pride in being chosen by flynas as its knowledge partner in this noble initiative.
“This MoU underscores two key points: first, flynas’ ongoing commitment to serving Saudi culture and heritage as part of its social responsibility; and second, the alignment of this initiative with the center’s firm belief in the importance of bridging the gap between past and future generations. This commitment was demonstrated in the poetry evening organized by the center two years ago, dedicated to deceased Saudi poets, which was met with great acclaim and appreciation,” Dr. Aldrees said.
He expressed his hope that flynas and the Abdullah bin Idris Cultural Center would successfully “take off” with literature enthusiasts to new heights of creativity, goodness, and beauty.
