A series of award wins, new hires, free eLearning courses and industry partnerships have accelerated growth at a time when many travel businesses struggle to recruit in the face of continued talent shortages.
Founded by specialist Fi Morrison-Arnthal, Ambitions Travel Recruitment & Training (ATR) works to swiftly connect businesses with top-tier candidates, leveraging industry knowledge, contacts and a proven track record for efficient, successful hires.
Morrison-Arnthal has more than three decades of experience in the industry, including as a director at Progressive Travel Recruitment, a leading global recruiter.
The launch and swift expansion of ATR comes at a time of ongoing candidate shortages within the industry.
Morrison-Arnthal, managing director of ATR, said: “Against an improving economic backdrop, the travel industry’s recovery continues to accelerate.
“However, candidate shortages mean that many businesses find their progress throttled by the inability to source hard to find talent. This has resulted in a strong demand for our services since launching.
“The old ways of doing business are no longer working – today employees are seeking attractive salaries that are in line with inflation and flexibility in their roles, while ongoing training and career development opportunities and a sense of mission are more important than ever before.
“At Ambitions Travel Recruitment we work tirelessly to connect employers from across the industry to the people they need to make their businesses thrive in this new world of work, and to match candidates with roles that will give them long-term fulfilment.”

Originally launching in 2022, ATR has welcomed two new additional industry experts in recent months, to support the agency’s rapid expansion.
The business welcomes talent acquisition operations specialist, Genna Davis.
Her diverse career spans travel consulting, national travel account management, travel recruitment, and training in the hospitality industry.
Brand operations manager Claire Castro brings years of experience leading international, remote travel recruitment operations support teams.
Joining ATR, she provides online advice and value to their global audience, candidates and customers.
    ATR Industry Support
As part of a wider ambition to develop new industry talent and support growth in the travel industry, ATR has launched a series of 12 free essential soft skills courses via their sister website.
While product and destination knowledge are undeniably crucial, it’s incomplete without the essential soft skills needed to have a career within the travel industry.
Their free courses are created by industry experts, featuring interactive modules, flexible learning options, engaging content, and worldwide accessibility.
The free courses are designed to enhance expertise, boost customer satisfaction, and open doors to new career opportunities within the industry.
In addition, ATR offers a wide range of free guides for their candidates and clients, downloadable from the website.
Covering topics such as creating a personal brand, interview preparation, new hire on-boarding, and developing a stand-out CV, the informative guides are available to everyone that might want guidance or support job hunting or talent acquisition a success.
ATR is also proud to be a partner of Back in time for Bed (BITFB), the flexible working movement for parents, created by Vicky Billing, head of partnerships at Riviera Travel, and head of supplier relations at Panache Cruises, Anna Perrott.
A co-branded guide is already available via their ATR website, offering valuable insights to make parental leave a success, and support for businesses and candidates as they navigate the parameters of flexible working.
With a positive impact on the long-term career satisfaction, loyalty and wellbeing of staff, businesses can gain competitive advantages.
This guide will help all parties to achieve a more flexible approach and demonstrates why a more human touch to resourcing is so important in attracting the best talent, reducing turnover, to increase productivity and profitability.
Morrison-Arnthal added: “It is an honour to work with our partners at BITFB.
“This inspirational organisation is doing important work to promote better working practices, and we are delighted to offer our support and expertise to help parents everywhere, as well as the businesses that recruit and employ them.
“The travel sector is a career, not just a job, and we aim to create conditions where our candidates can thrive for the long term.”

Eve Air Mobility Partners with Kookiejar to Deploy Urban Air Traffic Management System in Dubai

Eve Air Mobility (“Eve”)  and Kookiejar, a Swedish-based vertiport developer, have signed a letter of intent (LOI) for Eve’s Urban ATM (Air Traffic Management) system to support vertiport operations in Dubai.  The agreement marks Eve’s first Urban ATM agreement in Dubai and Kookiejar becomes the company’s 10th Urban ATM customer and fifth vertiport customer as the company continues to grow its global customer base.
The agreement comes as Kookiejar, along with its local partner Air Chateau, is preparing to showcase Dubai’s first state of the art vertiport hub facility with eight parking pads and a FATO at Al Maktoum Airport, Dubai South. Eve’s Urban ATM (Air Traffic Management) product has been adopted as part of Kookiejar and Air Chateau’s grand vision for Dubai. The vision is a phased implementation program in which networks of vertiports will be connected via Eve’s Urban ATM system to support a safe and scaled Urban Air Mobility (UAM) operations that provides a path to commercialization in 2025-2026.
“Urban air mobility relies on infrastructure within the lower air space as well as accessible takeoff and landing spots – vertiports. Eve’s Urban ATM solution provides an integrated suite of software that will enable an efficient and predictable eVTOL ecosystem,” said Rob Weaver, Urban ATM global business development lead at Eve Air Mobility.  “In Dubai, we are looking forward to working with KookieJar as they combine expertise in both ground and air infrastructure to design a flexible, sustainable and reliable vertiport network.”
Eve has engaged Atech, Embraer’s Air Traffic Control technology and system integrator company, to support the development of the Urban ATM software solution. Eve is leveraging Atech’s experience in developing aviation-grade products for ATM systems in Brazil.
“By leveraging decades of experience in one of the largest Urban Air Mobility operations of 1,500+ air taxi operations per day in Sao Paulo, the helicopter capital of the world, Eve’s Urban ATM system gives us the edge to integrate our Vertiports here in UAE and enable ANSPs to increase urban airspace capacity,” said Wassaf Akhtar, chief technology officer at Kookiejar. “This will provide equitable airspace access on our network of vertiports for eVTOLs.”ADVERTISEMENTKookiejar is already working with stakeholders in Dubai to carefully think about the routes that eVTOLs will take within existing VFR corridors that helicopters use today with its partners Vertiport Hub at Air Chateau and Dubai South.  The goal is to have eVTOLs operate seamlessly with existing commercial air traffic management systems and the UTM systems. This strategic agreement will bolster Dubai’s position in the Advanced Air Mobility (AAM) industry by capitalizing on the synergies between Eve and Kookiejar.
From before take-off to after landing, the urban air environment will count on integrated systems, services and technologies being developed by Eve to support eVTOL operations alongside UTM systems and many other airspace users. In the future, the advancement of infrastructure and regulation will rely on these network management services to enable autonomous flight.
The company is also continuing to collaborate with regulators, customers air navigation service providers, fleet operators, vertiport developers, airports and other UAM ecosystems stakeholders globally to advance concepts and develop technology to support initial operation and scaling of UAM operations from an ATM perspective.

Val Thorens Voted ‘Best Ski Resort in the World’ for the 8th Time in 11 Years at World Ski Awards

Val Thorens, the highest ski resort in Europe at 2,300m, has again been named ‘Best Ski Resort in the World’ at the annual World Ski Awards, the only global initiative to recognise, reward and celebrate excellence in ski tourism.
This is the 8th time in 11 years it has won which reflects the passion that consumers have for Val Thorens given they’re actively involved in the selection process. Verbier and Kitzbühel are the other destinations to have awarded this accolade in the past decade, too.  In addition, Val Thorens has been awarded ‘Best Ski Resort in France’ 10 times.
Val Thorens wins so often as it has a loyal and enthusiastic clientele, guaranteed snow, state-of-the-art infrastructure and a “Live United” philosophy which makes the Savoyard resort unique.
Every year, 216 destinations from 26 counties apply and try to win awards in various categories. More than 2.3 million people – both consumers and ski industry professionals – then vote online for their favorite resort.
Vincent Lalanne, director of Val Thorens Tourist Office, says, “This award represents the hard work of all resort staff whom I would like to salute for their involvement, teamwork and imagination. We’re very proud to win again and I would like to thank our customers from all over the world for their unfailing support. We’re dedicated to delivering excellence and continually developing the resort to ensure a fantastic holiday experience for everyone.”ADVERTISEMENTThis season, Val Thorens will open early on November 18, 2023 due to the signifiant early snowfall.
The resort celebrated its 50th anniversary last season. It opened the €40 million Le Board sports, wellness and business centre which is a marquee new development right in the heart of the village. Other major investments include two new state-of-the art lifts linking Val Thorens with Orelle which are now in operation in both winter and summer. Last season, a Perspex tunnel was built so that foot passengers even avoid getting their feet wet as they travel between the resorts.
Val Thorens is part of Les 3 Vallées, the largest interconnected ski area in the world with 600 km of pistes and 162 lifts.

Croatia forecasts a 10% growth in tourism for this low season

Mabrian, a leading travel intelligence company, has analyzed in a new study the low season opportunities for Croatia and the Mediterranean. The analysis was presented at the 7th edition of the Tourism 365 Conference that has taken place in Toplice, Croatia, this month.
This forum brought together both public entities in the tourism sector and major private companies to discuss opportunities for maintaining sustainable tourism activity throughout the south-eastern Mediterranean region all year round. The conference also featured prominent international speakers, including Carlos Cendra, Chief Marketing and Communications Officer at Mabrian, who presented forecasts and analyses of tourism strengths and opportunities for Croatia and other Mediterranean countries.
The main conclusions of the study are:
    ·      A Seasonal Context with Room for Improvement. Croatia still has room for improvement during the considered low season months. When compared to the context and its closest competitors, the data indicates that the Southeast Mediterranean region is 9 percentage points more dependent on the high season than the average in the nearby Mediterranean, while Croatia is 16% more. ·      Promising Prospects for the Low Season. One of the main takeaways from Mabrian’s analysis is the promising outlook for Croatia in the coming months. It forecasts a 10% increase in tourism from September to March 24, compared to last year. In terms of growth, Croatia is expected to outperform Italy and Turkey during these months, although it has not yet reached the levels seen in Greece.
    ·      Croatia Well Positioned for Travellers’ Motivations. According to the latest global travellers’ motivations study conducted by Mabrian, there is a consistent growth in experiential motivations for travel, substituting more conventional motivations. Analysis of travellers sentiment and preferences, based on over 400 million interactions on social media, reveals that interests in Active, Natural, Wellness, and Gastronomy experiences are gaining importance over Sunbathing, Family Travel, Shopping, and Nightlife. This positions Croatia with a great opportunity to solidify its leadership in Nature and Active tourism products during the low season, compared to Mediterranean competitors. Additionally, there is an interesting opportunity to further develop Gastronomy and Culture-related activities, which were among the main travellers interests from October to March during the Autumn-Winter 2022-2023 season. ADVERTISEMENTIvana Kolar, CEO at Julius Rose Consulting and Director of the Tourism 365 Conference, commented, “It is great to have confirmation that the Southeast Mediterranean region and Croatia are moving forward to achieve a more balanced tourism activity throughout the year. This has been the objective of this conference since its inception 7 years ago – bringing together governments and companies to align on vision and strategy”.
Carlos Cendra, Chief Marketing and Communications Officer at Mabrian added, “There are no doubts about the development possibilities of the region and Croatia for the non-summer season. The data shows excellent security perception and a well-balanced tourism offering to generate sustainable activity throughout the year, thereby boosting local economies”.
Mabrian Technologies is an international data intelligence company specializing in travel and tourism. It provides updated information and trends to destinations and companies. Powered by proprietary technology based on Big Data and AI, and supported by a tourism advisory team, Mabrian aggregates data from over 30 global sources to advise destinations in more than 40 countries. The company has now begun working in the Southeast Mediterranean region, thanks to its partnership with New Deal Europe.
