Icelandair launches first Polish route with new Gdansk service for winter 2026/27

Icelandair is welcoming its inaugural service to Poland this winter, as the airline launches 3-4 weekly flights between Keflavík International Airport to Gdansk starting 18 September 2026.

Operating on the Boeing 737-MAX8, the new route positions Gdansk as a new gateway to Iceland and transatlantic travel. Alongside this, Iceland is home to a thriving Polish community, and this new route enables Polish expats to stay close to loved ones back home, while giving Icelandic expats in Poland easier access to family in Reykjavik.

For Icelandic and North American travellers, the route offers direct access to Gdansk’s vibrant culture, historic old town, and artistic heritage, without the need for connecting flights through larger European hubs.

Passengers from Gdansk can connect seamlessly through Iceland’s Keflavík hub to major North American cities, capitalizing on Iceland’s strategic position midway between Europe and North America.

Bogi Nils Bogason, CEO of Icelandair: “This new service marks an exciting milestone for Icelandair as we enter the Polish market for the first time. It’s positive on many levels, giving Polish and Icelandic expats an easier route home, while positioning Iceland as a gateway for travellers seeking direct access to Iceland or onward connections to North America. Our hub location allows us to serve this market efficiently, and we’re pleased to open this door for Poland.”

The new Gdansk-Keflavík service complements Icelandair’s broader network expansion, with multiple weekly departures allowing for convenient connections to key North American destinations.

In further network expansion, Icelandair’s Geneva route has been strengthened with an extended winter schedule. The service will now operate twice weekly on the Boeing 737-MAX8 from 19 December 2026 through to Easter 2027, providing enhanced winter connectivity to this important European hub.

Icelandair customers travelling between Europe and North America can enhance their journey with a stopover in Iceland for up to 7 days, combining Polish connections with Icelandic experiences.
